Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (Santa Bárbara, 25 de outubro de 1984), conhecida pelo nome artístico Katy Perry, é uma cantora e compositora estadunidense. Conhecida por sua influência na música pop moderna e seu estilo exagerado, ela foi chamada de "Rainha do Camp" pela revista Vogue. Seguindo uma carreira na música gospel aos 16 anos, Perry lançou seu álbum de estreia, Katy Hudson, pela Red Hill Records em 2001, que não obteve sucesso comercial. Ela se mudou para Los Angeles aos 17 anos para se aventurar na música secular, e mais tarde adotou o nome artístico de "Katy Perry", originário do nome de solteira de sua mãe. Ela gravou um álbum enquanto contratada da Columbia Records, mas foi dispensada antes de assinar com a Capitol Records. Ela alcançou a fama com One of the Boys (2008), um disco de pop rock contendo seu single de estreia "I Kissed a Girl" e o single seguinte "Hot n Cold", que alcançou o número um e três na tabela estadunidense Billboard Hot 100, respectivamente. Uma reedição do álbum, intitulado Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection (2012), posteriormente produziu o single "Part of Me", que também alcançou o topo da tabela estadunidense. Seu álbum com tema de empoderamento, Prism (2013), teve dois singles número um nos Estados Unidos, "Roar" e "Dark Horse". Ambos os respectivos videoclipes fizeram de Perry o primeiro artista a ter mais de vídeo atingindo um bilhão de visualizações na plataforma Vevo.
