Britney Jean Spears (McComb, 2 de dezembro de 1981) é uma cantora, compositora, dançarina e atriz americana. Ela iniciou a sua carreira como atriz no programa infantil The Mickey Mouse Club (1992-94) aos dez anos, antes de ser contratada pela gravadora Jive Records em 1997. Seus dois primeiros álbuns, ...Baby One More Time (1999) e Oops!... I Did It Again (2000), tornaram-se sucessos internacionais, sendo que o primeiro sagrou-se como o disco mais vendido por uma artista adolescente em carreira solo. As respectivas faixas homônimas, "...Baby One More Time" e "Oops!... I Did It Again", obtiveram sucesso comercial e culminaram nas tabelas musicais de vários países. Em 2001, Spears lançou seu terceiro álbum de estúdio e primeiro homônimo, Britney, que apresentou uma imagem mais madura de sua personalidade e, no ano seguinte, estrelou o filme Crossroads. Ela assumiu total controle criativo de seu quarto material gravado em estúdio, In the Zone (2003), cujo segundo single "Toxic" obteve êxito comercial. Em 2006, as questões pessoas de Spears começaram a ser bastante divulgadas pela mídia internacional e fez com que ela entrasse em hiato de seus planos fonográficos e cinematográficos. Seu quinto disco, Blackout, foi editado em outubro de 2007, obtendo desempenho comerical moderado.
